Patrick joined the U-M Office of Technology Transfer in May 2008. He is currently engaged in tracking and understanding customer satisfaction, benchmarking technology transfer results, and expanding business formation capabilities.
Prior to joining the University of Michigan, Patrick developed and implemented strategic, marketing, and production plans for numerous Fortune 100 companies nationally and internationally. He gained this experience through work with several management consulting firms, including McKinsey & Company, The Boston Consulting Group, Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, and his own firm, Thornton Consulting Services. Prior to consulting work, Patrick worked for eight years in various engineering and management positions with BASF Corporation, the world’s largest chemical producer.
Patrick holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
